Patriot Day Program
Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist bombings, the President called upon all Americans to donate 4,000 hours of service to their community and country. This program recognizes the achievements of VA volunteers who have successfully completed the milestone of 4,000 hours of service. The prestigious 4,000 hour pin is presented during a luncheon.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony
The third Friday of September each year has been designated by Congress to be National POW/MIA Recognition Day. This year, the program is held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the main flagpole at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center, 500 Highway 89, Prescott. The program features outstanding young people and students from throughout central Arizona. The purpose of the event is to bring awareness to the issues facing our former prisoners of war and to remember the missing in action. The students plan and conduct the ceremony and bring heartfelt thanks to our former prisoners of war and our missing in action. Special features include speeches, a musical patriotic salute and much more. A continental breakfast hosted by the VA Voluntary Service Committee is held following the ceremony. There is no charge and the community is encouraged to attend.
