You may no longer be serving on active duty, but you can still serve your fellow Veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers rewarding employment opportunities to Veterans through various hiring authorities. The Federal Government knows Veterans have technical skills in areas of critical importance, and many also already have security clearances required for some Federal positions, which is why the government, including the VA, has a long-standing history of hiring Veterans. Assistance is also available to help you write your resume and obtain the necessary supporting documents. Be sure to include your experience in detail and the end results of your experience on your resume.
DVA offers medical, dental and life insurance as well as the Thrifts Savings Program and retirement benefits. If you are hired on a non-time limit appointment of less than a year, you will receive these benefits on your very first day of employment.
