VHA Vocational Rehabilitation Programs (CWT)

  • NAVAHCS offers Employment Services to eligible Veterans, especially those facing barriers to long term employment.

Our team of dedicated Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) can assist Veterans through many different avenues including:

    • Treatment Team Integration
    • Job Readiness Assessments
    • Skills Building
    • Resume Assistance
    • Customized Job Development
    • Job Search Strategies
    • Informational Interviews with Employers
    • Networking with Employers
    • Interviewing Skills & Techniques
    • Follow Along Support

Veterans are at different points in their employment search, so we have created multiple programs to meet Veterans where they are. Below are descriptions of each program.

Compensated Work Therapy Supported Employment (CWT SE)*

An evidence-based vocational therapy that aids in locating and maintaining competitive community employment for Veterans with serious mental illness (SMI) diagnosis.

Compensated Work Therapy Community Based Employment Services (CWT CBES)*

The Veteran’s VRS will provide vocational support to Veterans who have a history of sporadic employment, difficulty maintaining a job, difficulty initiating and following through on their job search, or are unable to obtain employment independently and desire immediate competitive employment.

Compensated Work Therapy Transitional Work (CWT TW)*

A pre-employment vocational program in which participants are matched to real-life work assignments for a time-limited basis. CWT TW participants earn minimum wage or more depending on the type of work and receive vocational assistance from a VRS to help prepare for successful transition to competitive employment.

    Supported Education

The VRS will work with the Veteran, the Veterans Benefits Administration (if needed), and the school of the Veteran’s choosing to ensure the Veteran’s seamless transition into the educational pathway.

    Supported Self-Employment

Like Supported Education, the VRS will work with all available small business development resources in the area to explore self-employment options. Veterans may receive assistance with business plans, labor market information, and a financial needs analysis.

    Vocational Assistance

This program is perfect for Veterans transitioning out of the area, or who need lower level vocational assistance. This program is an excellent choice if you need some resume tweaking, or assistance applying for a position especially time-sensitive opportunity.

All programs require a Consult for services.

*Programs that require Medical Clearance to participate.
