Nuclear Medicine

Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) Nuclear Medicine Service provides diagnostic services through the use of radioisotopes. Diagnostic studies include scans to diagnose the spread of a tumor to bone and liver and to diagnose the presence of infection in bone and elsewhere in the body. Nuclear Medicine scans are also used to assess heart and kidney function. Nuclear Medicine Service also uses radioisotopes to treat certain thyroid diseases and certain blood disorders, as well as for relief of pain due to spread of certain tumors to bones.
