Northern Arizona VA Health Care System

Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy staff at the Norther Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) provides evaluations of muscle strength, sensibility, and joint function.

Specialized primary care for Veterans with spinal cord injury or disease is available within the SCI/D Clinic at Prescott VA. Veterans with spinal cord injuries, ALS, multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative disorders and certain other spinal cord conditions may utilize this service.

The SCI-D system of care is a “Hub & Spoke” model. The SCI-D Coordinator coordinates care with staff at the Spinal Cord Centers in Albuquerque, San Diego, and in some cases Long Beach.  Annual evaluations are offered with the SCI Hub of each Veteran’s choice to ensure ongoing support and specialized care throughout their lives.   If an emergent need arises  and it’s determined one of our Veterans needs care beyond the scope of our facility, our SCI-D team will facilitate a TeleHealth appointment between the Veteran and the Veteran’s treatment team here, and staff at the center.  Based on the outcome of these consultations the SCI/D Team may coordinate Veteran’s safe transfer to their HUB facility (example: extensive wound care or needing flap surgery, etc.)
